Our Spanish teaching style has been continuously improved and
adapted for over 30 years, and our Teachers average 19 years experience!
Clases begin at 8 a.m., with the first two hours, 8:00 to 10:00, focusing on grammer and excercise. At 10:00 there is a 30 minute coffee and socializing break, then from 10:30 to 12:00, one-on-one conversation and activities. This is the schedule for a four hour course. Students studying three hours a day will begin at 9 am, and students taking more than four hours will start their aditional hours at 2 p.m.
We offer a structured and highly communicative system of Spanish courses. On offer are 8 levels: Inicial, Elemental, Intermedio, Intermedio Alto, Avanzado Bajo, Avanzado, Avanzado Alto, y Superior. Each level builds on the previous, and averages one month, depending on student effort and ability.
Examples of what is studied at the Inicial, Intermedio, and Avanzado levels are provided below:
Although we use this basic structure as a guide, we remain flexible to adapt to individual students needs. Our teachers are professionals at understanding your level of spanish and your weeknesses and strengths, and can adapt their lessons to areas in which you need more help. This is only a partial view of what is offered in terms of the grammatical concepts.

For students interested in obtaining college credits for their study at Tecun Uman, we have provided a link, in English, to the Universidad Rural de Guatemala, which describes the details of this option. If students need more credits than the 2 offered, they should consult with their university department to get approval for an additional project paper or internship project to increase the college credits available to them.
Tecun Uman also offeres online courses, which are wonderful to allow students to continue studying after they leave Antigua. Many of our teachers are highly experienced in online teaching, and can continue giving you one on one lessons right from where you left off.
